It would just be a never ending chase of single minded desire for vengeance. If Palpatine had said that Obi Wan had killed Padme, Vader would have gone after Obi Wan as soon as possible. Self hate is perpetual and doesn't really end, especially when your doctrine says you have to keep hating in order to gain power. Self hate is stronger than hating one specific person. And then waking up in a walking sarcophagus, memories still afresh of fire and the fight to the death with his brother, only to be told that his greatest love and the only thing left for him was not only dead, but dead at his own hand? NOOOOOOOoooooo You think only Kenobi thought of him as a brother, and not vice versa? That fight alone was far more painful than killing all the Younglings. He had snapped when he was fighting Obi Wan already. He would wipe out an entire species if it meant bringing his mom back. Anakin would blow up Coruscant and all its people to save his loved ones. Not killing Palpatine because that's "not the Jedi way?" Please. Padme was the owner of his heart and soul, far more than Obi Wan and Ahsoka. And the visions of Padme's death, after he had avenged his mom because of visions of her? That drove Anakin to the edge.
Pathological fear of losing padme full#
When his mom died, he went full dark side for a moment, slaughtering a whole village. When Ahsoka was condemned, he was very desperate and briefly went a little dark side to find the truth to save her. When that Bounty Hunter "killed" Obi Wan, Anakin very nearly lost his morals. To him, a deep, individual personal connection trumps everything by far. He doesn't give his affection often, but when he does, it bites him deep.

He was taken from her and then he only loved Obi Wan and Padme, and later, Ahsoka. He was born into slavery and for a long time his only family was his mom. He is a warrior to his core with shaky to nonexistent morals when it comes to those he loves and values. After all, in his mind, he did those things for Padme in his own twisted, desperate way.
